Farideh Banafshei

Farideh has a track record of delivering high-quality services in both English and Persian, and has acquired a wealth of clinical experience with international client groups within the NHS and private sector. She believes that each individuals experiences of mental health are both nuanced and unique to them and as such adopts a relational, integrative approach to addressing each client’s needs. She has experience providing care for adolescents, adults and families with mental health challenges and emotional distress, committed to working with clients to facilitate and achieve long-term change. Farideh works with her clients collaboratively throughout their therapeutic journey to ensure they feel comfortable, safe, and most importantly understood. She integrates and tailors evidence-based psychological interventions, drawing upon knowledge and experience to create an optimal supportive approach to best suit their needs. She is able to ask thought-provoking questions and easily adapt to the ever-changing needs of clients as they progress through the process of therapy, and as their therapeutic needs also change.  

Some of Farideh’s specialist areas include addictions, anxiety, cultural and identity-related concerns, depression, OCD, personal development, phobias, relationship issues, and trauma. She has worked alongside elite universities producing specialist research in collaboration with King’s College London, and has taught as a guest lecturer at Imperial College London where she has supported medical students and future psychiatrists in their work. Farideh also has specialised experience that extends to working with children and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly focusing on those who've grown up amidst multiple cultures, including expats, second-generation individuals, and third-culture children and adults. She is also able to assess and provide bespoke treatment plans for children with behavioural concerns and emotional distress – presentations that are well-documented within the autism spectrum.

 

Farideh is an advanced-level psychologist. She completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology with first-class honours, and went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Affective Disorders at distinction level. She has commenced the final stage of her Doctoral studies as a Counselling Psychologist and is currently registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
